Newberg First United Methodist Church is a Reconciling church and member
of the Reconciling Ministries Network.  We are one of many UMCs across
the U.S. who are actively trying to welcome and affirm members of the
LBGTQ+ community and enact change within the denomination to declare
their belovedness and advocate for their full inclusion in the life of
the church including church leadership at every level.

The Reconciling Ministries Team at NFUMC is a passionate group of laity
who are creating opportunities to learn more about LGBTQ+ identities and
concerns and to spread awareness in Newberg that there are churches
where LGBTQ+ persons can experience God’s love.

In April 2025, a member of PFLAG gave a presentation helping us learn
the history and evolution of various Pride flags.

In July 2025, the Reconciling Ministries Team walked in the Newberg Old
Fashioned Parade holding signs and blowing bubbles while showing off the
new Reconciling Ministries Network logo on our church bus.

Currently, the team is working to develop a small library of resources
for the congregation and others.
