Because the Church is the people and the ministries they do on Christ’s behalf in the world, the Church never really closed.  However, the Newberg First UMC church building is currently under restrictions according to our Phase 2 Plan.  The office is open Monday-Friday, 9am to noon for essential work only.  The maximum number of people who can be in the building at a time is 10.

The Reimagining Life Together Committee has not yet developed its plans for Phase 3 and Phase 4.  We will not be resuming any in-person worship services until we have a Phase 3 plan approved by our District Superintendent, the Oregon governor allows the conditions of our Phase 3 plans, and Bishop Elaine Stanovsky grants churches permission to move into Phase 3.  For now, all worship services are livestreamed on our website and Facebook page.

In-person services are not currently allowed in the building.  If you have a local, graveside service and would like Rev. Casey Banks to officiate, please contact her at pastorcasey@newbergfumc.org.

Use of the building is currently limited to “essential use” only.  If your ministry needs to access the building to conduct your essential ministry, you will need to present a safety plan to the Reimagining Life Together Committee for approval.  Please contact committee chair Greg Pitman at pitmangreg@yahoo.com for more information.

The church recommends that groups and committees conduct their gatherings virtually; however, it is possible to meet safely on the church property outside following all state safety mandates.  The front porch area under the awning has a maximum occupancy of 10 persons, spread at least 6 feet apart, with all persons wearing masks.  We request that individuals bring their own chairs, masks, and hand sanitizer.  Groups are encouraged to inform the church office of their meeting times so as to avoid double-booking.
