Prayer Garden Project

NFUMC Logo

The Trustees have approved preliminary plans for a new outdoor gathering space to host small groups, special worship services, personal prayer, small weddings and memorials, and more. The plan is to create a prayer garden between the parking lot and the vegetable garden–it will be an upgrade to the current fire-pit gathering spot and will be accessible, inviting, and useful–a place for our church congregation and community to come together to socialize and worship. The visioning proposal included plans for

  • a brick paved patio with an accessible pathway from the parking lot
  • bench seating and tables
  • sculpture by a local artist
  • lighting
  • upgraded firepit
  • raised garden beds for native plants plus small trees

The photo above represents the current design, and work should begin in late spring.

We are excited by the interest shown so far in our community garden project. Church members have an opportunity to participate and financially support this project. The size and scope of this project will be partly determined by how much support we get from the congregation.  We already have pledges of material and financial support from Methodist Men, United Methodist Women, and Trustees. We also have a donation to purchase the garden statue, and the raised garden beds are being donated.

Church members will be able to sponsor engraved bricks for $50 per brick.  First round of brick orders are due May 7th, 2021.

If you are interested in donating towards this project, please mark gifts for “Prayer Garden.”
