New Member/Disciple Orientation

Are you curious what being a disciple of Jesus Christ is all about?

Are you wondering what United Methodists believe?

Are you interested in learning more about Newberg First United Methodist Church?

Are you considering transferring membership or becoming a member of the church for the first time?

We invite you to explore these questions at our New Member/Disciple Orientation class, offered several times throughout the year.                                                   This is a 4-session class that covers

  • The birth of Methodism
  • How Methodists interpret the Bible
  • Our beliefs about God’s grace, baptism, and Communion
  • The meaning of church membership and expectations of discipleship
  • The history of Newberg FUMC & ways to get involved here
  • Opportunities to share your personal experience of God and the church and a chance to hear stories from other Newberg FUMC members
Following the 4 sessions, participants who choose to make a profession of faith, be baptized, and/or become a member of the church will have an opportunity to do so during an upcoming worship service.

There’s a class currently underway!
Sundays, November 1, 8, 15, & 22 at 1:00pm via a Zoom call.
Another class will be offered in early 2021, exact dates TBA.

Participants will receive a free copy of the “New Member/New Disciple Orientation” booklet by #SeeAllThePeople Resources.  The booklet is also available as a free digital download here:
