The United Methodist Women (UMW) is a world-wide organization whose main emphasis is on mission for women, children and youth all over the world.  Newberg UMW has a general unit.

The circle group meets monthly on the third Thursday at 1:30pm in the church library.  The general unit meets quarterly.  Check with the church office for dates and times.  We are a local unit of the Cascadia District–OR/ID Conference.

We raise money to meet our mission pledge in a variety of ways:  individual pledges and special lunches after church are just two ways. We also make school bags to send to UMCOR (United Methodist Committee on Relief), knit and crochet prayer shawls to give during times of stress and make quilted lap robes to give out.

As our local mission project, we work with the Chehalem Youth and Family Services.

Many of our women participate in the national United Methodist Women’s Reading Program on several levels.  An assortment of books as well as the Response and New World Outlook (2 United Methodist Women’s magazines), available for check-out in the library, are found on the United Methodist Women’s book shelves in the library.

Mission u (formerly known as School of Christian Mission) is held each summer in July.  This 2-4 day conference features classes in the 3 areas (a Bible-related study, a geographical study and a study on a current country/world issue), worship and plenaries and great fellowship.

We coordinate a one-day Spiritual Retreat with Columbia District United Methodist Women each spring, and also hold a one-day retreat for our local women in the spring..

United Methodist Women is open to all women who want to learn about and care more for others in the world.
