What is it?

Messy Church is a form of church for children and adults that includes creativity, celebration and hospitality.  The Messy Church movement began in the United Kingdom and has spread throughout the world.  In the words of one of its leaders, “messy church is an all-age fresh expression of church that offers counter-cultural transformation of family life through families coming together to be, to make, to eat and to celebrate God.” For more information got to

Starting a Messy Church Training:

Rev. Roberta Egli, regional coordinator for the Greater Pacific Northwest Area and from Trinity United Methodist Church in Eugene, Oregon, will be conducting a one day training event that focuses on what it is you need to begin your own messy church. Trinity UMC has been hosting a monthly Messy Church since October 2013 and they will be sharing their learnings from their training as well as their experiences.

Needed for Training:

Curiosity, Creativity, and a team of three to five people who are excited about sharing the good news and making disciples of Jesus Christ. Both lay and/or clergy can come (a team of at least 5 is preferable).

November 5, 2016 at Newberg First United Methodist at 1205 Deborah Road, Newberg, Oregon. You can register for the event online at registration form or print out a registration form to fill out and mail it in.

Cost: $25 per person OR $100 for groups of 4 or more. This fee includes lunch and snacks!
