 Section 2: Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrates support for the mission and purpose of the church.
  2. Attested musical skills and competence.
  3. Maintains a friendly, cheerful and inviting openness to everyone.
  4. Has an effective, positive working relationship with the pastor, other music providers, liaison and other staff.
  5. Ability to lead worship and to train others as individual and team worship leaders.
  6. Is willing to grow professionally.
  7. Maintains appropriate schedules as designated for position.
  8. Uses church resources in an efficient and responsible manner
  9. Visionary – Look for ways to expand and enrich the music program and team worship leaders.

Section 3: Terms of Employment:

  1. The Director of Music is considered a part-time position.
  2. The Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) is responsible for overall supervision of church employees and shall administer performance reviews of the Director of Music.
  3. The SPRC will assign a committee member to act as a liaison with the Director.
  4. Salary recommendations originate with the SPRC and are then forwarded to the Finance Committee.
  5. A continuing education allowance may be available.

Section 4: General Music Qualifications:

  1. Understands the importance of music in worship.
  2. Knows a variety of types of choir music.
  3. Selects music appropriate for choir’s skills and congregation’ preferences.
  4. Has the ability to direct the choir.

Section 5: Specific Performance Qualifications/Responsibilities:

  1. Leads choir at services, September through mid-June.
  2. Directs the choir practice sessions.
  3. Works with the pastor in selecting music for services.
  4. Purchases music within the allotted budget.
  5. Supervises the organist/pianist.
  6. Assists bell choir when needed/requested.
  7. Arranges for special music (solos, groups instrumentals, etc.) when there is no choir.
  8. Participates in special events as needed/requested.
  9. Participates in the life and ministry of the church.
  10. Participates in the Praise Band.
  11. Song leader for Sunday morning service.
